A window is glass in a frame.

You can see what sits behind it, and you can see how it is held up. The beams pass behind the pane in plain sight.

6 mm float glass · 50 × 50 mm steel angle · 4 × M8 bolts

A button is a block of ply.

Press one and it travels 8 mm toward the wall. Its shadow closes up as it goes.

18 mm birch ply · 2 × M6 bolts · cut from one sheet

Nothing pressed yet.

A slider is a block on a rail.

This one works. Move the carriage and the lamp moves with it, and every shadow in the shaft follows.

Steel rail · red ply carriage · full travel 180°
