Deconstructivist Graphic Design

A concept for an interface that wears out where you use it. Each screen is a copy of the last. Scroll to run the copier ↓

Every screen is a copy of the last one.

Open a window and you get a fresh print of it. What you touched shows through. What you ignored comes back paler.

Use leaves marks.

Buttons you press often print darker. Controls nobody touches fade to gray, then drop out of the menu.

Copies drift.

Every saved version lands a fraction off the one before. Stack them and you can see how far a document has moved.

Wear is history.

Worn edges show what was opened, what was left alone and what people kept coming back to. You can read it without opening a log.

Example: five weeks of one settings screen. Darker squares mean more visits that day.

One button, twelve copies.

Your browser is running this simulation now. Each copy shifts, blurs and re-prints the one before, and the figures are measured from the pixels.

The original. Every hairline is there.

The original is gone.

The button still works.
